Strong Dogs Compete in Atlanta, Ga.


During the weekend of November 7-9, 2008, the Tampa Bay Strong Dogs showed their prowess, competing at the Shepherd Shoot Out, a division II tournament hosted by the Shepherd Center's Therapeutic Recreation Department, in Atlanta. This fierce tournament showcased five of the best wheelchair basketball division II teams in the country, and gave the Strong Dogs, a division III team, an opportunity to sharpen their skills competing against aggressive opponents, including Paralympic level athletes. Spectators and opponents alike recognized the Strong Dogs’ potential and tenacity, even when only achieving one victory. It was a memorable performance by the team, and an excellent start to the 2008-2009 tournament season.

The Strong Dogs played hard, making their opponents fight for each point. The Strong Dogs won their last game against the Shepherd Lady Stealers.
