Strong Dog Invitational

Saturday and Sunday, December 5-6, the Strong Dogs hosted a Florida Wheelchair Basketball Conference Event: The Strong Dog Invitational. In this tournament Florida's top three teams: The Orlando Magic Wheels, the Miami Heat Wheels and the Tampa Bay Strong Dogs battled for basketball supremacy in the Sunshine State.

Schedule and RESULTS

Saturday, December 5

12:30 p.m. Tampa 52 vs. Orlando 29
2:00 p.m. Miami 48 vs. Tampa 51
3:30 p.m. Orlando 26 vs. Miami 48

It was an exciting Saturday at the All People's Gym. While Tampa won it's first game against Orlando 23 points ahead, the Magic Wheels' lead scorer, Brian Foley, closed the game with a beautiful three pointer just seconds before the final buzzer.

Miami brought the Heat to Tampa with Dirrick Hughes (44) scoring most of the baskets he attempted, but that was not enough for Miami to get the "W". Jimmy Green (32) and Shelton Mobley (20) extinguished the flames and gave the Strong Dogs the second win of the day.

Sunday, December 6

9:30 a.m. Tampa 45 vs. Miami 46
11:00 a.m. Miami 46 vs. Orlando 29
12:30 p.m. Orlando 31 vs. Tampa 55

The first game on Sunday gave Miami one more chance to try to defeat the Tampa Bay Strong Dogs. The game was nip-and-tuck from the opening tip-off. In what looked like an ESPN play of the weekend, Shelton Mobley's mad shooting skills brought the crowd to their feet, with his 3-pointer at the buzzer, giving Tampa the lead. The officials put time back on the clock, giving Miami one more chance at the basket. Luck was on their side! Dirrick Hughes (44) made the last shot of the game, giving the "W" to Miami. It was an exciting game and a good warm up for the Strong Dogs in preparation for Nationals.

The Orlando Magic Wheels did not win any games this weekend, but they were steady and never gave up. It was great to watch the undeniable talent of Brian Foley in action. He is one of Florida's top players.
